DESCRIPTION:NCURA Region V is pleased to announce the upcoming Region V Roundup topic: Creating Stability\, Consistency & Strong Relationships through Effective Post Award Management. The virtual session will be held on Wednesday\, June 10th\, 2026\, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm\, Central Time. Providing the presentation is Saira Valley – Principal Consultant\, Valley Consulting Group\, LLC. \nPlease complete and submit the registration form by Monday\, June 8th\, 2026. A confirmation email will be sent with the Zoom link by Tuesday\, June 9th. Please note: the registrant’s first and last name must match the Zoom profile first and last name\, which will allow admittance to NCURA Region V’s Roundup session. \nDescription: This presentation is to demonstrate why routine grant reconciliations are one of the most important elements of strong\, pro-active post-award management. Recons help you stay ahead of problems instead of constantly reacting to them\, and they give you the visibility you need to prevent deficits\, support compliance\, answer sponsor questions\, and build trust with your PIs. We will also talk about the reality that the biggest barriers – too many responsibilities\, constant interruptions\, and not enough time—are exactly why good systems matter. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to offer our first free\, virtual Region V Professional Development Workshop for NCURA Region V members. \nWorkshop Title: Project Management in Research Administration: Beginning with the End in Mind\nWorkshop Presenters: Jennifer Potocki and Rummy Miranda\, Research Administration Leads in the Research Support Office at Baylor College of Medicine\nOne workshop held over two days: June 25 and June 26\, 2026\nTimes each day: 12:00pm to 2:00pm CDT \nWorkshop Interest Form:\nSubmit Interest Form by Tuesday\, May 26\, 2026. \n*Note: Space is limited and pre-requisites are required for the workshop. Submitting the interest form does not guarantee admittance into the workshop. Final workshop applicants will be notified of their spot by Thursday\, May 28\, 2026. \nPrerequisites: \n\nMust be a current NCURA Member\nBasic Microsoft Office experience\n3+ years Research Administration experience\nMust be available to attend both workshop days without interruptions. It is encouraged that manager approval be obtained to secure time to attend.\nComputer with working audio and video\, because camera must remain on during workshop.\nAttendees should be prepared to actively engage in this interactive workshop.\n\nWorkshop Level: Intermediate – This level is appropriate for individuals with some knowledge and experience in the subject area\, individuals who are mid-level managers and directors in their fields with an established degree of competence and/or for those seeking to build on\, apply or enhance existing knowledge. \nDescription: This workshop equips participants with essential skills for managing sponsored projects through interactive discussions on case studies and various project scenarios. \nParticipants will learn to leverage Microsoft suite products like Teams and Planner for effective communication and organization of complex projects. The workshop will cover the use of meeting agenda curated templates\, and teach participants to navigate project management complexities\, ensuring successful completion and comprehensive reporting. \nKey topics include applying the Pareto Principle (80/20 rule) during kickoff meetings\, the importance of active communication and collaboration\, and methods for effective management throughout the project lifecycle with a focus on team rapport and accountability.
